The EU AI Act is in force. In July 2026 the EU adopted the Digital Omnibus, which fixed the tougher high-risk rules to firm dates: 2 December 2027 for standalone high-risk systems, and 2 August 2028 for AI built into regulated products. The bans and the transparency duties are already live, and since February 2025 firms have had a duty to support staff AI literacy under Article 4. This snapshot checks whether the basics are in place, so you are not caught flat-footed as the rest lands.
